Having a positive mindset is crucial for resilience. But how do you build one?
Here's 4 tips to start developing that positive mindset!
1 - Gratitude journalling:
Spending a short amount of time each day to write down a few things that you’re grateful for, shifts your focus from negative experiences to positive ones. Whether you’re grateful for your health, relationships or anything else, this simple practice will help you appreciate the positive things in your life. It is an incredibly powerful practice!
2 - Positive Self Talk:
I’ve mentioned it before but positive self talk is key. Telling yourself "YOU CAN DO THIS" or even small things like "I’m strong" or "I’m confident" all help! Reframing negative thoughts is super important as well (but scroll back through my page to find a whole post dedicated to this!)
3 - Visualisation:
If you spend a few minutes each day visualising yourself successfully achieving your goals, it reinforces optimism and improves your motivation levels. I didn’t even realise I was doing this sometimes on my trip but by thinking ahead and seeing myself complete what I wanted to achieve, I was able to tackle each day with confidence and see my success!
4 - Surround yourself with positivity:
Negativity is contagious. As proved by multiple scientific studies. But so is positivity. You get to pick who you spend your time with. So make sure to engage with positive and optimistic people. This also means taking part in activities and hobbies that you enjoy, and help you enter that positive space!
